These could save a dog's life!

For the third time in my years working with dogs, I saw a dog's mandible get trapped in another dog's equipment while playing today. While it's important for dogs to wear collars with ID tags, I think it's important to remove any additional equipment prior to any play sessions. Limbs and jaws can get caught and broken, and a twisted collar can even end up strangling the other dog. And in all of the panic, hands that are trying to help can easily be bitten. I think it's a very good idea to carry a pair of heavy-duty blunt-tipped medical scissors in your dog-bag, because not all equipment is easy to remove in an emergency. These can be used to cut through a nylon/fabric collar, without stabbing the dog. It was a scary ordeal for everyone involved today - especially the dogs. These were NOT dogs I know. In this case, the dog happened to be wearing a collar with a quick-release plastic buckle, and luckily it was accessible. Very happy that everyone is okay!
